Mrs. Mathilda E. Hulings, 410 East Street, died at Warren General Hospital at 5:55 P. M. Sunday (Mar. 1). Born in Clarion County on August 23, 1876, she had been a resident of Warren for the past 20 years and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mae McDermott, Warren; and several nieces and nephews, including Merle H. Dahle, of this city.

Removal has been made to the Lutz-VerMilyea Funeral Home, where friends will be received at the usual calling hours, starting at seven o'clock this evening. Services in her memory will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dr. A. B. McCormick officiating, and interment will be made in Marienville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

They had a son named Daniel Lewis Dahle who was born May 1872 who married Elizabeth (Ella) Wiant.

Carl Arthur Dahle, Born 2 July 1894 in Bowmantown,PA. Died 8 February 1951 and was married to Loretta Comstock.

*Merle Harrison Dahle (My maternal grandfather), Born 15 January,1897 . Died on July 5, 1962 and was married to Elva Mae Hulings . He is listed on the 1900 US Census, as "Harrison M." ?????

My Grandfather, Merle, "left home" at an early age and I was never told WHY he left. Supposedly, he was around twelve and went to live with another family in Knox, PA.

Mrs. Sarah Allen Dahl (SIC) died at 13:50 O'clock Wednesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Boyd, Camp street extension, Jamestown, at age of 74 years. She is survived by five sons, Lewis Dahl of Marionville (SIC), Pa., John H. Dahl of Erie, Pa., Wayne A. Dahl of Clarendon, Pa., Shelby C. Dahl of Erie, and Edgar Dahl of Erie; three daughters, Mrs. S. C. Hulings of Kane, Pa., Mrs. T. B. Gifford of Titusville, Pa., and Mrs. Boyd, at whose home she died; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Lyons, of Cooksburg, Pa., and Mrs. C. A. Paup of Kane, and a brother, H. A. Cook of Kane, 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dahl was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Kane and prior to ten months ago lived in Cooksburg, Pa. The funeral was held Friday afternoon at 3 O'clock from Henderson and Lincoln Funeral Home, and interment will be at Cooksburg this afternoon.




Merle Harrison Dahle Obituary

Birth: Jan. 15, 1897

Death: Jul. 7, 1962

Merle Harrison Dahle, 65, Clarendon RD 1, died at 1:15 p.m., Thursday at Warren General Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past year. He was born in Boumantown, Forest County, Jan. 15, 1897, but had been a resident of the Stoneham area since 1916. he had been employed by Pennsylvania Furnance and Iron Co, for the past 13 years, retiring a short time ago because of illness.

Mr. Dahle was a veteran of World war I. He served as a private, first class, in the Medical Supply Depot, with action in France from Oct 6, 1918 until Sept 4, 1919. He was a member of Local 633, United Electrical and Machine Workers. Serviving are his wife, Elva; rwo daughters, Mrs. Martin Smith, Warren; and Mrs. Harold Cawley, Tiona; a brother, Albert, and two sisters, Goldie and Martha, all of Jamestown, NY; four grandchildren, Joan Smith, Phoenix, AZ,; James Smith, Warren; Lynn and Hal Cawley, Tiona.

Other surviviors include a cousin, Mrs. Mae McDermott, Warren; a nephew, George Dahle, Santa Marie, CA; a niece, Mrs. Ernest Miller, Sugar Grove, PA; also several cousins, and two uncles in Erie.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, the Rev. James Allen, pastor of Stoneham Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Warren County Memorial Park at Starbrick.
